Offering of Fire: Indestructible Butter Lamps

The late Lady Konchok wished to share the simple and profound practice of the Butter Lamp Aspiration Prayer so that people from all walks of life could come together and create harmony. She understood the familiar experience of turning on a light and illuminating a dark room. In the same way, when we awaken the aspiration to see more clearly, clarity can gradually develop over time.

Lady Konchok has passed this practice on, and her son, Lama Gyurme Dorje, now continues the tradition and makes the offerings on behalf of those who wish to participate.

When you make a butter lamp offering, Lama Gyurme Dorje will recite the Butter Lamp Aspiration Prayer each morning and light the offering candles according to your request. He will also empower the offerings with a short Vajrasattva practice in Tibetan.

Most importantly, your aspiration is held in mind throughout the practice. The candles remain lit until they naturally go out. High-quality soy candles are used, and each candle is intended to burn for approximately seven hours.
